How to Make Your Monster Cookies

Step 1 Start with cold, cubed butter and both sugars. Cream them for five full minutes. The mixture should look light and fluffy. This creates the perfect cookie texture.

Step 2 Add your eggs and vanilla extract next. Mix everything for one more minute. Scrape the bowl sides to combine well. Your dough will start to come together.
Step 3 Whisk your dry ingredients in a bowl. This includes flour, cornstarch, baking soda, and salt. Slowly mix them into the wet dough. A low mixer speed prevents a flour cloud.
Step 4 Now, gently fold in two cups of M&M’s. Use a spatula, not the mixer. (This hard-learned tip keeps your candy from breaking). Your dough will be very colorful.
Step 5 Chill the dough for one hour. This step is key for thick cookies. Cover the bowl with plastic wrap. Patience makes a better cookie, I promise.
Step 6 Preheat your oven to 400 degrees. Scoop dough onto lined baking sheets. Press extra M&M’s and candy eyes on top. Give each monster a fun personality.
Step 7 Bake for 8 to 11 minutes. The edges should be slightly golden. Let cookies cool on a rack. They will firm up as they cool. What is the secret to a soft, chewy cookie? Share below!

Keeping Your Monsters Fresh

Store cooled cookies in a tight container. They stay soft for about five days. You can freeze the dough for up to three months. Just scoop the dough balls first. Then freeze them on a tray. My grandkids love finding these in my freezer. It makes a quick, fun treat for surprise visits.

Why does this matter? Fresh cookies bring instant joy to any day. A ready-to-bake batch saves you time and stress. Do you prefer chewy or crispy cookies? Let me know in the comments. You can also reheat a cookie for ten seconds in the microwave. It will taste warm and fresh from the oven.

Simple Cookie Fixes

Is your dough too sticky? Chill it longer. Cold butter is the secret to perfect cookies. Are your cookies spreading too much? Your butter might have been too warm. Always use cold, cubed butter for the best shape.

Do the M&M’s colors bleed? Gently fold them in at the very end. This keeps the colors bright and pretty. Why does this matter? Small steps make a big difference in baking. Your cookies will look as great as they taste. What’s your biggest cookie baking challenge?
