Greek Chicken Wrap Recipe | Easy & Healthy Lunch

The First Bite

I tasted my first Greek wrap on a sunny patio. The cool yogurt sauce dripped onto my hand. Crisp lettuce and juicy chicken filled my mouth. Ever wondered how a simple wrap could feel so special? That meal turned an ordinary lunch into a small joy. I knew I needed to make it at home. The fresh, bright flavors just made me smile. Now I want you to feel that same delight.

My Kitchen Adventure

My first try had a funny mishap. I used too much garlic powder in the sauce. My family still ate it, but their eyes watered! We laughed together at the table. That’s why home cooking matters, my friends. It’s not about being perfect. It’s about sharing real moments and good food. A small mistake can become a happy memory. Try it yourself and see what happens.

Why It Tastes So Good

Two things make this wrap amazing. First, the marinade makes the chicken tender and herby. Second, the cool sauce balances the warm chicken perfectly. The crunch from the veggies adds a nice surprise. Every bite has something different to enjoy. Which flavor combo surprises you most: the herby chicken or the tangy sauce? Tell me in the comments below. I love hearing what you think.

A Quick Trip to Greece

This style of wrap comes from Greek street food. Vendors there serve similar meals called gyros. They are quick, filling, and full of fresh taste. The yogurt sauce is called tzatziki in Greece. *Did you know the pita bread is often warmed over a grill?* It makes it soft and pliable for wrapping. This recipe brings that sunny street food to your kitchen. Will you give it a try this week?

Step 1
First, prepare your chicken breasts. Slice each one into two thin pieces. This helps them cook fast and soak up flavor. Place all the slices in a large plastic bag.

Step 2
Now, make the marinade in the bag. Add olive oil, Greek seasoning, and lemon juice. Do not forget the garlic powder, salt, and pepper. Seal the bag and shake everything together well.

Step 3
Let the chicken rest in the fridge. Thirty minutes is good for flavor. (Hard-learned tip: A longer marinade makes it even better). Then cook it on a hot grill or pan.

Step 4
Cook the chicken for four to five minutes per side. It must reach 165 degrees inside. Let it rest for five minutes before slicing. This keeps the chicken juicy and tender.

Step 5
Mix your simple yogurt sauce. Combine Greek yogurt, lemon juice, and seasonings. Stir it all together in a small bowl. Set it aside for your wraps.

Step 6
Warm your pita breads for about thirty seconds. This makes them soft and easy to roll. Then gather your diced veggies and sliced chicken. Now you are ready to build your wrap.

Step 7
Fill each pita with lettuce, chicken, and veggies. Add a good drizzle of the cool yogurt sauce. Roll it up tightly to hold everything in. Use foil to wrap it for easy eating.

Three Tasty Twists On The Classic

This recipe is a perfect starting point. Try one of these fun spins next time. Each one changes the flavor in a delicious way.

Mediterranean Veggie
Skip the chicken. Use chickpeas and chopped kalamata olives instead. The yogurt sauce and fresh veggies are still key.

Spicy Feta Kick
Add a sprinkle of crumbled feta cheese to the wrap. Mix a pinch of red pepper flakes into the yogurt sauce. It adds a nice, warm heat.

Summer Gyro Style
Use lamb or beef instead of chicken. Add thin slices of potato and fresh dill. It tastes like a summer festival.

How To Serve Your Greek Wraps

This meal is great on its own. But a few extras make it special. Here are my favorite ways to complete the table.

For a side, try lemon rice or a simple pasta salad. A bowl of olives or feta cheese also works well. These sides add little effort but big flavor.

Pair it with a glass of crisp white wine. A non-alcoholic lemonade or iced tea is also perfect. The tangy drinks cut through the rich flavors.

Which would you choose tonight: the wine or the lemonade?

Keep Your Wraps Fresh

Store wraps in the fridge for two days. Keep parts separate for best results. Chicken and sauce last four days in sealed containers. I freeze cooked chicken in meal-sized bags. Thaw it in the fridge overnight for a quick lunch. This makes weekday meals a breeze.

Batch cooking is a true time-saver. Grill all the chicken at once. Chop a week’s veggies in one go. My grandkids love building their own wraps. What’s your favorite make-ahead lunch trick?

Wrap It Right

Soggy pita? Warm it briefly first. A warm pita is more flexible. It also creates a moisture barrier. Too much filling makes rolling hard. Use a light hand with the toppings.

Chicken drying out? Do not overcook it. Use a meat thermometer for perfect doneness. Let it rest before slicing. This keeps the juices inside. Sauce too thick? Stir in a splash of water.

Wraps falling apart? Use parchment paper as a helper. Roll the wrap tightly inside it. Tuck in the bottom edge first. *Fun fact: This is called a “burrito fold.”* Have you tried this method before?

Your Questions, Answered

Can I make this gluten-free?
Yes! Use your favorite gluten-free wrap or large lettuce leaves. Check your Greek seasoning label too.

How far ahead can I prep?
Marinate chicken up to a day early. Chop veggies and make sauce two days ahead.

What’s a good yogurt swap?
Sour cream works in the sauce. For dairy-free, try a plain coconut yogurt.

Can I use a different protein?
Leftover grilled lamb is fantastic. Chickpeas are a great vegetarian choice too.

How do I halve the recipe?
Simply cut all ingredients in half. Two chicken breasts will feed about four people. Would you make a big batch or a small one?

Description

A quick and healthy lunch option featuring tender Greek-marinated chicken, fresh vegetables, and a creamy yogurt sauce, all wrapped in warm pita bread.

Ingredients

Instructions

  1. Slice each chicken horizontally into two thin but even slices. Place the chicken in a large gallon size zip-top bag.
  2. Add olive oil, one tablespoon of Greek seasoning, ½ teaspoon garlic powder, lemon juice, salt and pepper to the zip-top bag. Close and shake the bag well so the chicken is well coated in the marinade. Let the chicken sit in the marinade in the refrigerator for at least 30 minutes.
  3. Remove the chicken from the marinade. Lightly oil the grill, grill pan or large skillet. Turn on a grill or heat a grill pan to medium high heat. Grill over medium high heat for 4-5 minutes on each side or until the chicken reaches 165 degrees when measured with a meat thermometer. Let the chicken rest for at least five minutes, then slice into pieces.
  4. Pour the Greek yogurt into a small bowl. Add 1 teaspoon lemon juice, 1 teaspoon Greek seasoning, ¼ teaspoon garlic powder and ⅛ teaspoon of salt. Mix well then set to the side.
  5. Warm the pita bread in the microwave for about 20-30 seconds or in the toaster oven for 30 seconds until just warm.
  6. To each pita add chicken, lettuce, diced cucumber, diced tomato, lettuce and a drizzle of yogurt sauce. Alternatively, we often serve these family style and everyone assembles their own with their favorite toppings. Roll each wrap, then eat and enjoy! I find they are easiest to roll if you lay out a piece of parchment paper or foil, and use that to help you keep the wrap together while you eat. If you skip wrapping them, they are more likely to be harder to hold.

Notes

For a quicker meal, marinate the chicken overnight. You can also use pre-cooked rotisserie chicken and toss it with the marinade ingredients (without the oil) for a shortcut.
